I'm Song Selfish

Have you ever heard such a wonderful song that you only want to share it with one or two people at the most? It's as if others knowing this song exists would diminish its power between the few of you that know it. Usually I want to share music I find with everyone, but not this time. I'm sorry if I'm being selfish, but I'm sure a song I'm selfish about with you will come along eventually. It will be a song we only share with just a few people. Its existence will be a secret. We will hope the group breaks up before they get popular. That's what I feeling now.

I agree with you both. Jess: I feel the same about when a person "won't appreciate it as much" as it should be. Aaron: Did this post have anything to do with my email? I hope so!

selfishness isn't nice.
a secure person won't mind sharing the wealth.

Jess-
"Nobody's gettin there paws on my ipod" should be ipod's new slogan. It's great. You should really write in and tell them.

Now don't be too stingy with those songs.

Poe-
Hey, normally I'm not selfish with my songs at all. It is when they are personal to me that I feel like it's a part of me that I want to keep to myself and those I choose.

case and point:
remember when Muse didn't exist?

remember when I heard them on some crazy midnight programme designed to introduce sorry Ohioans to the rest of the world?

remember when I bought the hard to find album and worshiped it for a solid month?

remember when I told a few people about it?

remember when I came back to Ohio a year ago to see Muse in concert and realized that Muse had a loyal following of posers who were just there because electric guitars were wailing?

remember when no one here remembers that Muse's first album was not Absolution and that the band means so much more than some catchy lyrics in that "one song they play on the radio"?

.......sorry

I don't remember, but I'm glad you do. :-)

Abby-
I'm glad you're getting better. Now as for my mix punk CD... I want it full of your selfish songs. ;-) Have you ever heard of the old group "nerve agents"? Some one recomended them to me the other day, but I've not been able to find their music yet.

I actually have like 6 albums worth of songs like that.

Albums that I only play for people that I am sure would appreciate how good they are, and not just either think its a good catchy song, or be disspointed it isnt a catchy pop song.

I completely relate to you here! I get that feeling all the time and actually do refrain from over sharing. I love to share with those special people because it does enhance my joy of listening to it being with someone else that gets it. But as soon as it is out there for everyone to "touch" it just loses some of it personalness that made it so special to begin with.

Peter-
That's quite a number of songs. I say you should share more. ;-)

anonymous-
Usually I don't let anonymous poeple comment, but I have your IP address and know you who you are. ;-) I agree with you completely. There are some songs that are just good songs, but others that you don't want tainted. We are all so horribly song selfish.

I meant horrible in an endearing way. I love it that we are this way. If ever any of you give me a song I will consider it a piece of your treasure.

The thing is, I want to share. It just finding people who would appreciate it in central ohio.

That is very difficult to do.

No worries. I completely get ya. I mean, I don't really know to many people in Central Ohio, but those four letter states... Well, Yooooouuuu know!

So I was figured out, huh? I even thought about tracing, but since I'm at a friend's house I thought I was alright. But just my state alone would probably give me away.
I usually don't go anonymous anonymous like that, but than again I've never posted anything on your blog before either. I guess that was what inspired the hidden identity comment, but it was too true a statement to not say anything.
